I tried your instructions for intergating in FireFox, but it still does not work.

My IDM extension keeps disabling each time I launch FireFox and I have to enable it. Why does it happen?

This problem can be caused by the following reasons:

1. Conflict with another browser extension

Maybe IDM add-on for FireFox has a conflict with some other add-on(s). For example we have confirmation of conflicts with "Disable YouTube HTML5 Player" and "Privacy Settings" add-ons.

Also some VPN add-ons disable or delete IDM add-on because they see world "proxy" in its permissions. But our add-on does not change proxy settings in browsers and does not make competition with them for that resource. If your VPN extension does this, you need to contact its developers and ask to add our add-on in exceptions and do not disable it.

To check that your problem is caused by another browser add-on, you need to TEMPORARY disable all other add-ons. To do this please press on FireFox menu (arrow 1 on the image) and select "Add-ons and themes" menu item (arrow 2 on the image).

Then click on "Extensions" tab (arrow 1 on the image) and make sure that all other add-ons but "IDM Integration Module" (Download files with Internet Download Manager) add-on are disabled (switch near them is disabled) like it is shown on the image below:

If our add-on will start working, enable other add-ons one by one to detect which one is causing the conflict. If you find such add-on, please report it to us.

2. Conflict with a standalone application

Please note that some security applications may block extensions folder in FireFox. For example such problem is confirmed with AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes. You need to add IDM in exceptions list in such applications.

Some other applications like pop-up blockers also may cause this. We have confirmation of such conflict with Ad Muncher application. If you have such applications try to exit or uninstall them.

If this still does not help, please try to do the followinng:

  1. Uninstall FireFox (including all personal settings by deleting the Mozilla FireFox folder on the drive, "C:\Program Files\Mozilla FireFox\" by default). Please note that this will lead to loosing all your personal settings, favorites etc. You may want to save them before doing this.
  2. Uninstall IDM.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Redownload and reinstall the latest version of FireFox.
  5. Redownload and reinstall the latest version of IDM.
